Sur Theatre was originally founded in 1993 by South American Professional artists, who, struggling to transcend the barriers of mainstream theatre decided to create plays that were less dependent on language and more dependent or corporeal work. Since then, Sur Theatre has developed its own signature that merges the tango dance form with theatrical expression. Currently, Lisandro Gomez and Tatiana Melnyk are the Teatro Sur Theatre’s artistic co directors.

Sur Theatre has being incorporated as a non for profit company with the name of Teatro Sur Theatre since April 29, 2010.
